What is your experience with international patients?
I have a large experience with international patients. As a plastic surgeon I have been working in the private field the last 8 years. I am a consultant plastic surgeon at private hospitals in Athens Greece and I work with a team that provides aesthetic and reconstructive procedures to international patients. In addition to that as a master hair surgeon working with DHI Global Medical Group, the last 8 years I have been travelling in various DHI clinics performing hair transplantation procedures as well as consultations and evaluations in numerous international patients.
I have been working regularly in DHI London the last 8 years. I have also been working at DHI Jersey clinic and DHI Glasgow clinic the last few years. I have worked in DHI Paris, DHI Bucharest, DHI Porto on several occasions. Furthermore in DHI Athens where I work as a medical director, we have a lot of international patients travelling to Greece for consultation and hair transplantation procedures.
What do you love about your job?
My job as a plastic surgeon is really exciting because it is a specialty that offers patients (both aesthetic and reconstructive) an aesthetically pleasing result that transform their lives, helping them gain back their self esteem and make them face the future with an optimistic attitude. It is a field that mainly focuses on younger patients (or young people of any age!) that become frustrated after losing their hair. As an experienced and certified DHI Hair surgeon my target is not just to restore their hair loss, it is manly to restore their positive mood towards life. And this is exactly why I love my job!
Why do you think international patients come to you?
I believe international patients come to me due to my many years of experience and the very pleasing results I have. Being a Medical Director of a Global Medical Group as DHI and being trained and certified by DHI London Academy of Hair Restoration, gave me the high standard of expertise I have and the state of the art technique I use to provide the best possible results to my patients.
Can you tell us about a memorable treatment with which you helped to improve a patient's life?
A memorable case among many, is when I performed a hair transplantion procedure on a male transgender patient at the early stages of his transition from male to female. At the consultation pre operatively I met a very shy young boy suffering with his baldness with very low self esteem, didn't really know what to do. A year later post operatively I saw a confident individual proud of the new thick hair and ready to move on. I will never forget the smile on my patient's face and the appreciation expressed to me!
