What is your experience with international patients?
Since 1998, I am a resident gastrointestinal-transplant surgeon at Strasbourg Unıversity Hospital in France, which is ranked 4th in the top University Hospitals in France for the 5th consecutive year and has a long tradition of serving international patients.
What do you love about your job?
To have happy, satisfied patients following my “tailor-made” surgical treatments and feedback of these successful results.
Why do you think international patients come to you?
I’m a well-trained, experienced, certified French surgeon who has many European diplomas. Apart from French, I also have a very good level of English and Italian languages. Therefore I can help international patients with compassion and empathy.
Can you tell us about a memorable treatment with which you helped to improve a patient's life?
As an obesity surgeon, I change every day a mother's, a father's, a worker's, a teacher's quality of life by reducing diabetes complications or heart diseases complications. As a transplant surgeon, I save the life of my patients.
Dr. Murat Çağ was born in Istanbul, Turkey and received his foundational medical training along with his training in General Surgery from Istanbul University Istanbul Medical Faculty. For the past 20 years, he’s been a transplant specialist and a resident gastrointestinal surgeon at Strasbourg University Hospital and Le Foret Obesity Polyclinic in France. He’s joined Memorial Bahcelievler in its opening year of 2018 as an Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Specialist.
Dr. Çağ has published over 30 scientific articles and papers in publications such as the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the European Journal of Trauma and Emergency Surgery and has also authored a chapter in a Turkish medical textbook (Acute and Chronic Woundcare). The European Congress of Trauma and Emergency Surgery and the American Transplantation Congress are just two out of the several medical congresses where he’s presented his work and research. He’s also a member of multiple medical associations such as the Turkish Medical Association, French Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Association (SOFFCOMM), and the American Society of Transplantation. Dr. Çağ is certified in gastrointestinal laparoscopic surgery, microsurgery, and robotic surgery. Within the field of bariatric surgery, his specialites include the gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and gastric balloon.
