FAQ

Question:

What is the difference between liposuction and bariatric surgery?

Answer:

There are important differences between liposuction and bariatric surgery. While liposuction surgery is intended to remove problematic areas of fat accumulation targeting specific body parts and operating locally, bariatric surgery defines a group of medical procedures that reduce the size/volume of various portions of the digestive tract. Food intake is restricted by reducing the size of the stomach or by restricting absorptive capacity of the small intestine. Examples of liposuction procedures include abdominoplasty, breast reduction, or interventions on the hips, thighs or upper arms. Bariatric surgery includes gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, and gastric bypass.
