Itinerary

Trip 

    Day 1 - Arrival

  • Arrival at İstanbul Atatürk Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökcen Airport (SAW)
  • Transfer to the hotel

    Day 2 - Treatment

  • Pick-up from your hotel to the clinic
  • Pre-op consultation and blood tests
  • Hair transplant surgery
  • Drop-off at your hotel

    Day 3 - Post-op check and departure

  • Pick-up from the hotel to the clinic
  • Post-op check-up: verbal education
  • Transfer to the airport for departure flight at 4 pm or after

    Day 4 - (Optional) If treatment is on a Saturday:

  • To have post-op check-up with doctor, must stay until Monday and flight needs to depart after 4 pm (additional cost for extra night hotel stay applies)
  • If only staying 2 nights, will go to ER for post-op check-up and dressing change on Sunday and flight needs to depart after 3 pm

Preparation 

  • Do not cut your hair too short. We shall be doing all the necessary trimming prior to the operation.
  • If you use any medication or lotion to prevent hair loss, you must stop using them at least 2 weeks before the scheduled operation. However, you may continue to use your usual shampoo.
  • Stop using vitamin E and aspirin at least 3 days before your operation. If you have any pain a week before your scheduled operation, we recommend you use paracetamol in lieu of aspirin.
  • Smoking is forbidden for a total period of 36 hours starting from the morning of the operation.
  • Alcohol must not be consumed in the period starting from the night before the operation as well as the following 5 days.
  • Avoid consuming any caffeinated drinks prior to the operation day. Consumption of Green tea and caffeinated food must also be minimized before the operation.
  • You may shower and have your daily breakfast during the morning of the operation. However, avoid a heavy breakfast.
  • If you are using any prescribed medications, it is recommended you bring them with you to the operation.
  • You should wear a buttoned down shirt and a pair of comfortable shoes on the day of the operation.
  • Make sure you have provided all your contact details.

Aftercare 

  • Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.
  • The matters you must pay most attention to during the postoperative period will be explained to you after the operation; you will also be given a “post-operative care guide”.
  • Post-op care package provided for the first few days after surgery:
    • 1 box of antibiotics. Dosage: 1 tablet after a meal, 2x a day (breakfast/dinner). Start using on day 1. Use for 5 days.
    • 1 box of painkiller. Dosage: 1 tablet after a meal. Use on day 1. Can use on following days if you have pain.
    • 1 box of anti-inflammatory, anti-edema. Dosage: Days 1 & 3 - 1 tablet, 2x a day after a meal (breakfast/dinner); Day 2 - 1 tablet, 3x a day after a meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner); and Day 4 - 1 tablet, 1x a day after a meal (breakfast). (Inform doctor if you have a stomach disease as you must take a different medication).
    • Lotion: Use on transplanted area for 45 minutes before washing to soften the surface. Start using on day 2 or 3. Use every day for 15 days.
    • Shampoo. Use on whole head every day or every other day. Starting using on day 2 or 3. Recommended to continually use after healing.
    • Antibiotic & antiseptic capsule. Dosage: Apply to donor area after hair washing. Start using on day 2 or 3. Use for 3 days.
  • It is recommended that you rest for 2 days (the night of the transplant and the next day).
  • Rest by lying on your back. Use a neck or travel pillow to elevate your head.
  • No sports activities are recommended for the first 3 days.
  • All activities causing excitement (including sex) are completely forbidden for the first 3 days.
  • After the 4th day, you may start exercising lightly, such as light walking.
  • You may participate in routine physical activities after 2 weeks.
  • Contact sports or heavy exercise (i.e. football, basketball, etc.) should be avoided for 2 months.
  • You may have swelling on your face and eyes. This is normal, usually occurs on the 2nd or 3rd day after the transplant, and clears away 3-5 days after. The prescribed medication will help with the swelling but you should also apply a cold gel or ice compress on your forehead and around your eyes every hour for 10 minutes on the days you have swelling.
  • Avoid contact with the recipient (transplanted) area for the 1st week.
  • Wear a loose-fitting hat for the first 2 weeks when going outdoors or into any “risky” indoor areas.
  • Do not expose your head to the sun for the first 15 days.
  • Do not enter dusty places for 15 days.
  • Do not cut your hair for the first 2 weeks.
  • You can swim if you do not wet your hair. You may swim in a pool, sea, and wet your head after 15 days.
  • If you wish to cut your hair after the 15th day, it is recommended to go to a stylist who is experienced in cutting transplanted hair.
  • Only have your hair cut with scissors for the first 2 months, do not use a mechanical trimmer.
  • Do not colour/dye your hair for 1 month.

But let me say the job they did was first class and I am very happy just maybe not talk as much 👍 Emma made this whole experience very easy

From start to finish it was very professional from booking into the hospital and pick ups and drop off from airport and to hospital was brilliant no worry at all. Everything treatment wise was fantastic and facilities and hospital was very clean and comfortable. My only down side was when getting the hair put back in I don’t think the (3)nurse putting the hair back in should talk and laugh as much while doing it, it’s a long day and you have a bad headache from the work that’s was done the 5 hours before and to have 3 people around your head talking laughing and joking non stop for 3 hours really doesn’t help the headache. But let me say the job they did was first class and I am very happy just maybe not talk as much 👍 I was dealing with Emma and she was brilliant, from start to finish explained everything so well what I needed to do and know, was so helpful in any questions I asked. She made this whole experience very easy

Nach der Landung wartete schon der Fahrer auf uns, der uns direkt ins Hotel fur. Das Hotel war sehr schön, sauber und das Personal war sehr freundlich. Beim Vorgespräch in der Klinik kam ich mir leider vor als wäre ich ein Tier im Zoo hinter einem Käfig , der Oberarzt und circa 9 weitere Personen kamen aus allen Ecken und schauten kurz mal rein, einige blieben auch und fasten mein Kopf an . After the landing the driver waited for us, who took us directly to the hotel. The hotel was very nice, clean and the staff was very friendly. With the preliminary talk in the clinic I came unfortunately before me as if I was an animal in the zoo behind a cage, the chief physician and about 9 other persons came from all corners and looked briefly times purely, some remained also and fast my head at . The experience was good. I am unsure of the result. I will have to wait 12 months. During the treatment there was a lack of English. I wanted to tell the surgeon exactly what I wanted. To conclude, if someone I knew was very keen on having this procedure done, I'd not hesitate in recommending these guys to them :-)

This whole medical procedure abroad process was definitely made a s simple as possible from the outset. From the always-on-call super friendly, helpful and experienced care from my medical Health Manager (Emma - thanks), to the way things were organised. The organisation was simplified, advice given on travel arrangements, and stress taken out of travel to and from hotel to hospital and airport transfers helped lots. The hospital staff from translators to the doctors and nurses were also very helpful and friendly and were able to settle the nerves. My personal advice to anyone having this done would be to stay an extra few days post procedure and make use of the offer of the after care and washes etc. To conclude, if someone I knew was very keen on having this procedure done, I'd not hesitate in recommending these guys to them :-) As written in an earlier piece. Always being available is important. Continuing the help and support post procedure I think will reassure many people.

I went to LIV hospital for my procedure and the facilities were finished and maintained to a high standard similar to a private medical site in the U.K.

All transfers went relatively smoothly and as expected, the process from 1st consultation, to procedure was well communicated and conducted by a happy and friendly team. The translators assigned to you are very attentive if there is a language barrier, and the final checkup and after care run through is comprehensive. All staff involved in the procedure were very kind and attentive. I went to LIV hospital for my procedure and the facilities were finished and maintained to a high standard similar to a private medical site in the U.K. The Qunomedical account manager has also need very engaged through the process from initial enquiry to post procedure and travel back home.
