The mini facelift, also known as rhytidectomy is one of the most popular plastic surgery operations performed in the world. Unlike a full facelift it does not involve the neck, but only the mid face and jowls. The ideal candidate for the mini facelift procedure is under 50 or has had a full facelift in past years.

How Does Mini Facelift Surgery Work?

Once you have decided a mini facelift is right for you, the next step is to choose the right surgeon. Plastic surgeons worldwide are often educated in the U.S. or U.K. or prestigious medical schools in Europe or Mexico. A mini facelift involves just a few incisions below the ears, and the entire operation may take as little as two hours. The technique removes excess tissue and tightens the muscles with a system known as SMAS or: Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System. Most mini facelifts require just a local anesthetic. Minimal swelling and bruising may occur. Recovery is typically not more than couple of weeks, but patients should initially take it easy and stay out of the heat and sun since that will aggravate swelling. The mini facelift results in a more youthful appearance and will boost your confidence for years to come.
