LASIK (an abbreviation for "laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis”) is a laser eye surgery used to correct vision. OptiLASIK surgery combines the most advanced surgical techniques and uses the Wavelight FS 200 laser and the Wavelight Allegretto Eye-Q to correct short-sightedness, long- sightedness, and astigmatism. The procedure typically improves visual acuity to the point where patients no longer need glasses or contact lenses. At Qunomedical we partner with the most experienced eye surgeons around the world. These specialists perform LASIK surgery for up to 80% less than the average cost in the UK, US and Australia. The cost of the treatment depends on the technology used, the experience of the surgeon and whether the patient is having one or both eyes treated. After examining your medical history the eye surgeon will provide you with a treatment plan and price quote. You’ll be able to choose from a variety of surgeons, many of whom attained their medical qualifications from UK and US medical schools, have won awards, and are members of prestigious associations.

How Does OptiLASIK Work?

Once the eye surgeon has examined and mapped the curvature of the eyes, anesthetic eye drops will be administered, and occasionally a sedative. An eyelid holder will keep the eye open and a suction ring prevents the eye from moving, while lifting and flattening the cornea. The surgeon then creates a flap in the outer surface of the cornea using a Wavelight FS 200 laser, and uses a Wavelight Allegretto Eye-Q laser to shape the exposed tissue before closing and reattaching the flap. The whole procedure takes 30 minutes to an hour. Directly after surgery the patient’s vision will usually worsen but then improve significantly after a day. Some patients feel a temporary burning or itching sensation after the surgery but this should disappear within 24 to 48 hours and vision will stabilize within three to six months. LASIK surgery is not recommended for patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients under 21 or those with diabetes or pre-existing eye disease.
