Breast Augmentation With Fat Transfer

Breast augmentation with fat transfer is a procedure that increases the volume of the breasts  by taking fat from another part of the body and transferring it. Fat is usually taken from parts of the body where there is excess, such as the tummy or thighs.

For many women, feeling anxious about how their breasts look can be upsetting. This procedure — often called  natural breast augmentation or fat transfer boob job — aims to tackle this. It’s become more popular over recent years, with many women making use of high-quality, affordable care on offer abroad.

But, while there are plenty of options for fat transfer breast augmentation, it can feel overwhelming when it comes to planning your treatment. Searching for the right doctor and clinic, finding a balance between price and quality, and choosing between undergoing breast augmentation with fat transfer in the UK and abroad, are just a few of the important points to consider.

Is a Breast Augmentation With Fat Transfer Right for Me?

To be a suitable candidate for a fat transfer breast augmentation, it’s important that you’re around your ideal weight, but have some excess fat that can be used for the transfer. It’s also important that you’re not planning to lose a significant amount of weight in the future, as this can affect the long-term results of the treatment.

A natural breast augmentation is best for those who are looking for subtle changes to their breasts. If you're looking for a significant change in size and shape to your breasts then breast implants would be a better option.

Breast Augmentation With Fat Transfer: How Does It Work?

The fat transfer, or fat grafting, procedure involves extracting fat from one part of your body and transferring it to your breasts. A fat transfer breast augmentation surgery can vary depending on where the fat is extracted from, how much is used, and your individual goals from the treatment. But, there are a few common steps involved in all fat transfer boob jobs.

1. Anaesthesia and Fat Extraction

Fat transfer breast augmentation is performed under either general or local anaesthesia. Fat is extracted using the liposuction procedure, whereby small incisions are made in the selected area to draw out the fat needed. The fat is then purified and placed in small syringes that are used for making the transfer.

2. Fat Transfer

Following the fat extraction, an incision is made on the breast the extracted fat is transferred into the areas to be augmented. This is carried out several times, to achieve the desired enhancement and look.

3. Closure

The incisions are closed and the breasts are covered with bandages. If dissolvable stitches are used, they’re broken down by the body within around 6-8 weeks. If non-absorbable sutures are used, they’re typically taken out after seven days.

Does a Fat Transfer Boob Job Hurt?

Generally speaking, the fat transfer procedure is not painful. You’ll be given either local or general anaesthetic which will numb the areas of your body that are worked on. You may experience some soreness in the days following a breast augmentation with fat transfer, but your doctor may prescribe painkillers to help to ease this.

Breast Augmentation With Fat Transfer Results and Recovery

You can expect to have some bruising and soreness in the area in which the fat was taken from following your treatment. This should begin to reduce after around a week, depending on how much fat was transferred. It’s also normal to feel some discomfort and achiness around your breasts in the days following the surgery and your doctor may advise that you wear a compression garment for 1-2 weeks to help ease the recovery.

It can take anywhere from 6-12 months for the final results of a fat transfer breast augmentation to appear. There’s also the possibility that more than one session may be needed to achieve your desired look, as over time fat cells may disperse, which can change the look of your breasts. Additional factors such as breastfeeding and weight fluctuations will also influence the appearance of your breasts.

What Are the Benefits of a Natural Breast Augmentation Compared to Breast Implants?

One of the main benefits of natural breast augmentation compared to breast implant surgery is that it doesn’t involve the placement of foreign objects inside the breasts. The body can react to the insertion of implants as it recognises that they’re foreign objects. This can lead to what’s known as capsular contracture which may eventually cause the implants to harden, move, or change shape. The body will not react in this way when fat is transferred into the breasts during a natural breast augmentation.

Although long-lasting breast implants are not permanent. They typically need to be replaced after around 10 years. This is not the case with fat that’s transferred into the breasts.

Should I Get a Fat Transfer Boob Job Abroad or at Home?

Choosing between undergoing breast augmentation with fat transfer in the UK or abroad can be tricky. Travelling to undergo treatment overseas is becoming increasingly popular.

The rise in popularity is mainly because:

  1. Breast augmentation with fat transfer costs are usually cheaper abroad compared to in the UK

  2. Some of the most renowned natural breast augmentation surgeons are based at clinics overseas

  3. Clinics abroad are equipped with the latest medical technologies and infrastructure

Although this is becoming a more popular option, travelling overseas for medical treatment can still feel daunting and there are a few common questions that patients ask before booking their treatment.

1. Are Doctors Abroad as Experienced and Qualified as Those at Home?

2. How Long Will I Need to Be Abroad For?

3. How Does the Post-Op Stage Work?

Very professional and well versed in his work. I was having a breast augmentation surgery and am happy with the work done. The doctor chose the size perfectly based on my overall appearance, chest anatomy, and desire to stay natural. After the operation, he paid enough attention and told me in detail how to continue to recover successfully. I can strongly recommend. Good luck!
