How Does an Eyebrow Transplant Work?

Here are the main steps of the treatment.

1. Initial Consultation

Before undergoing treatment, you should have a consultation with a doctor. This is important, in order to discuss your medical history, your current health status and to build a treatment plan. We can help you get a specialist assess your case for free. Get in touch anytime.

2. Surgery

  • Before the start of your transplant, the doctor will draw the outline of your eyebrows, based on your goals as discussed during your consultation.

  • You will receive local anaesthesia. Following this, the doctor will remove hair either using the FUT or FUE method.

  • If FUT has been used, then your donor area (usually the back of your head, but can vary) will be stitched and the strip of hair will be cut into grafts that will be transplanted into your eyebrows. If FUE was the technique employed, then hairs will be picked directly from your donor area and placed in a container with a solution to maintain the follicles’ vitality before implanting them into your eyebrow area.

  • Using very thin needles, your grafts will be implanted into the recipient area in a specific way so that it looks as natural as possible.

3. Post-Op

The next day you will have a post-op check-up with your doctor, and have a chance to ask more questions and receive post-op care guidelines.

What Should I Expect From This Procedure?

Between weeks 2-8 your transplanted hair will fall out. This is completely normal and is part of a natural process termed as the ‘shock-loss’ phenomenon. Following this, you will be a dormant phase where not much growth will be seen. Around 6 months onwards you will start seeing growth, and get an idea of what your final eyebrows will look like! Your new eyebrow hair will behave differently than ‘normal’ eyebrow hair, since it has been implanted from your head. Please bear this in mind when results start to show, and when you groom them.

Bear in mind, that your results are greatly influenced by a variety of factors that are specific to you. Such as your medical history, your current health status and your adherence to the the post-op guidelines.
