August 2017| Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital, Turkey
The hospital was clean and state of the art and I felt a lot more comfortable than I thought I would - a really good experience overall. The Facebook group is an excellent idea as it allows queries flow from people in the same situation .
Hi , slight delay on the flight over but the driver was waiting in an easy to identify area in arrivals. Straight to the hospital where a blood sample and payment was taken and then walked to the hotel (1 min walk no need for a lift), was told to be ready for 12:40 the following day. Hotel was nice, large room and comfortable bed. Got a call the following day that they were ready and asked could I go earlier which I could. Walked to the hospital more blood taken and then into meet the doc, quickly went through what I was looking for and what they could do and agreed on what the procedure would involve. Then went and had head shaved and into the operating room . The anaesthetic injections were sore but not as bad as I thought to be honest and the operation started with the taking out of the grafts. Was then given a small snack and the surgeon arrived in to complete the markings for the implants and then the technicians completed the implants. After the procedure was given a meal in the hospital and told to be back in the morning at nine (I had wanted an early start as my flight was early). Arrived back to the hotel with all painkillers, antibiotics etc and settled in to bed for the evening. The first night is by far the worst and I would advise to take a painkiller asap after the op (I didn't for a few hours - bad mistake) and have food and water ready to go at your hotel. Slept relatively well and back to the hospital the morning after and then went through the washing procedure. Only issue I would have is that the washing materials are above the limit for carry on luggage (I got away with it but could be an issue). Overall the staff were welcoming and excellent at communicating what I need to do, there were two ladies who done translations where needed and were friendly . The hospital was clean and state of the art and I felt a lot more comfortable than I thought I would - a really good experience overall . Th calls and contact with Qunomedical were very good, the Facebook group is an excellent idea as it allows queries flow from people in the same situation .
