The Evangelisches Krankenhaus Oberhausen (EKO) is an acute hospital with 452 beds and over 1,000 members of staff, treating tens of thousands of patients per year. The facility stands for a family-friendly environment and a combination of tradition and innovation in their approach. The EKO is part of the ATEGRIS healthcare group.
With various clinics and centres, the EKO covers many medical fields, such as general surgery, cardiology and urology. They also have an institute for laboratory medicine and clinical microbiology. Furthermore, as an academic teaching hospital of the University of Duisburg-Essen, the EKO also teaches and trains medical students.
The EKO is located in Oberhausen, a town nestled between Duisburg and Essen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Oberhausen main train station is just down the road from the hospital and takes about 10 minutes to walk. There are also bus stops directly in front of EKO’s door.
