Dental Consultation

Have a toothache that just won’t go away? Or need a little shine for your smile but scared of getting a dental procedure immediately? Then a dental consultation is the right way to go. A dental consultation is a non-binding visit to a dentist to discuss your concerns and possible treatments.

What Happens During a Dental Consultation?

The dental consultation procedure has a few main steps, such as:

Interview

The main aim of the consultation is for you and your surgeon to sit down together and discuss your concerns, and for him/her to answer any questions you have. For the consultation to be successful, it is helpful if you make clear any expectations you have for the interview. During the length of the consultation, your dentist will enquire about your current health, your medical history and whether you have undergone any dental treatments before. The consultation should end with a diagnosis and a treatment plan.

Tests

If you do not have recent X-rays of your teeth and gums, you might be asked to get one. In addition, the dentist will perform a physical examination of your mouth, and check for any signs of gum disease, cavities and such. Your dentist may require a CT scan to examine your bone mass which is a necessary check if you need an implant.

What Can I Expect From a Dental Consultation?

The consultation is not an appointment for a treatment. A consultation is important for getting all your teeth-related questions answered, to gather more information about your concerns and receive a diagnosis and a plan of action to get you your million dollar smile back.
