Initial consultation

Before you decide to go ahead with the procedure, it is essential that you have a consultation with your surgeon. The consultation is necessary for you to ask any questions you may have, clear any doubts and discuss all the possible options with your surgeon.

Be prepared to answer questions regarding your medical history and your current lifestyle. The consultation is done so you as a patient can build a relationship and get comfortable with the surgeon, and it usually ends with a solid treatment plan that will be followed.

The surgeries may include any of the following:

  • Tummy tuck or abdominoplasty - An invasive surgical procedure also known as an abdominoplasty. It works by removing fat and skin in order to give you a flatter and smoother stomach.

  • Breast enhancement - This can include a breast augmentation to increase the size of your breasts, or a breast lift to lift and shape your breasts into looking more ‘perky.’

  • Liposuction - A minimally invasive procedure that extracts excess fat from areas where fat can be difficult to lose despite diet and exercise, such as your abdomen or thighs.

  • Buttock augmentation - Using implants or fat transfer to increase the size of your butt and give it an optimal shape.

  • Cellulite reduction - Often using laser techniques and related procedures to remove your cellulite and improve your skin texture.

  • Stretch mark removal - Stretch marks are also removed using non-invasive laser techniques.

  • Vaginal rejuvenation - Refers to a plastic surgery procedure that aims to aesthetically improve the appearance of your vagina.

You will be anaesthetized through the length of the surgery. Depending on the procedures and your individual preferences, it may be local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia.

Your surgeon will perform the procedures according to your treatment plan. Some surgeries can be done in tandem whilst others may be done over a longer duration of time with healing periods in between.

The surgery will end with suturing and dressing any incisions (should there be any) and then you can begin your recovery phase.

What should I expect from a mommy makeover?

As is the case with most plastic surgery procedures, a mommy makeover is very specific to an individual. Do not compare your results with someone else’s and always make sure to clearly state your expectations and motivations during your consultation.

Additionally, you should only undergo the procedure because you, as an individual, want it. Do not feel pressured to undergo the surgery because of another person or to fit into a certain standard image.

The results of your surgery take a few months to be visible, so do not feel disheartened if you do not see changes soon after the surgeries.

Finally, focus on your recovery and take care of your health in order to achieve the best results.
